From a young age, growing up in the heart of Outback Queensland and surrounded by majestic mountains, our founders, Rachael and Courtney, discovered a deep love for nature. Rachael’s childhood was filled with exploring the rugged landscapes of the Outback, where she wandered along sun-dappled trails and climbed rocky peaks, listening to the soothing sounds of rustling leaves and flowing streams. She spent countless hours in lush forests, discovering hidden clearings, and marveling at the vibrant wildlife that called this breathtaking region home. Courtney, meanwhile, grew up in a different part of Outback Queensland, but her connection to the land was just as profound. Her family shared a deep commitment to the environment, taking her on weekend adventures that taught her the importance of respecting nature and its delicate ecosystems. Like Rachael, Courtney’s family emphasized sustainable living, encouraging her to reduce waste, recycle, and engage in local conservation efforts. Both Rachael and Courtney became increasingly aware of the environmental challenges facing their beloved landscapes as they grew older. On their hikes, they noticed the troubling sight of litter, discarded plastic bottles, wrappers, and bags marring the beauty of the places they cherished.

This stark contrast between the majesty of nature and the pervasive presence of single-use plastics ignited a passion within them to act. Their shared love for the great outdoors and a desire to protect it ultimately brought them together, leading to the creation of Rockside in 2023. They realized that everyday products could be part of the solution to the environmental crisis. This awareness prompted them to design the Kraft Washable Paper Bag, a product that is not only durable and stylish but also kind to the planet. With every bag, Rachael and Courtney hope to encourage a shift away from single-use plastics and inspire others to join them on a more sustainable path, ensuring that the beauty of Outback Queensland, and the world, remains for generations to come.Our bags quickly gained popularity among like-minded individuals who share our eco-conscious values.
